Uma and Arpad announced their engagement last June, when Thurman was seen wearing a huge 8-carat diamond engagement ring surrounded by 20 smaller diamonds. When the actress showed up last year at Elton John’s 10th White Tie and Tiara Benefit wearing the ring, onlookers took notice immediately. The couple then threw a huge engagement party on July 1st of 2008, with a star-studded guest list including Elton John, Sting, Bob Geldof, Stella McCartney, Claudia Schiffer, and Elizabeth Hurley, among others. Along with the celebrities was a smattering of people from Busson’s high-finance world.
Because of the huge engagement party, everyone assumed that the wedding would be a giant affair. However, it seems that Uma and Arki are taking the opposite path. Uma Thurman has been married twice before, once to Gary Oldman, who she divorced in 1992, and then to Ethan Hawke, with whom she has two children. Thurman and Hawke divorced in 2004. Busson has lived the life of a playboy, and has two children with supermodel Elle MacPherson. It seems, however, that the two, inseparable for a few years now, are ready to exchange wedding rings in a small ceremony.
