When the wedding officiant is a dummy (literally)

For most brides-to-be, their wish is that the wedding ceremony goes off without a hitch. While laughter may be a sign off good luck and happiness, it would be preferred that it does not break out thanks to dumb mistakes.

However, one upcoming ceremony may be chock full of jokes and hilarity and the engaged couple actually hope it stays that way. According to the Vancouver Sun, David Balsiger and Christine Strong of Colorado are to exchange wedding rings and vows this coming weekend with a ventriloquist's dummy officiating.

Children's entertainer and puppeteer Maralee Dawn will be lending a hand to the proceedings, so to speak, as she will breathe life into the dummy, Butch. She is also an ordained minister.

"Admittedly, it's not a solemn storybook wedding," said Strong. "It does have a wedding dress, the presiding pastor Butch dressed in a tuxedo, and a few of the trapping of a traditional wedding - but that's where it ends."

She added that guests can expect "a totally unscripted ad lib humorous ceremony."
